- About Us -

Play With Your Food, Connecticut's most popular lunchtime playreading series, began in 2003 in Westport with 4 shows over the winter.  In 2009, we presented 25 shows in Westport, Fairfield and Greenwich.

When you come to Play With Your Food, you arrive at noon for a buffet lunch catered by one of our local gourmet restaurants, then settle in for a program of clever, provocative one-act plays, read by terrific professional actors from Connecticut and New York. After a short discussion with the actors, and often a playwright or two, everyone goes back to work. It's an opportunity for people in the community to gather downtown over lunch, and then enjoy beautifully written short plays...some of which the public rarely sees...written by both award-winning writers and new voices. And, due to the prevalence and generosity of local restaurants and Starbucks, lunch is always delicious.

We always are seeking new and provocative programming. In October 2008, we introduced a three part series:  A "Taste" of the American Musical, presented by musical theatre historian, Art Gang. Combining live performances with film clips and music, Art explored with enthusiastic audiences, the music, the history, the anecdotes and the legends of two unique American institutions: Broadway and Movie Musicals.

Play With Your Food is a program of JIB Productions, Inc., a not-for-profit corporation designated under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, formed by Nancy Diamond and Carole Schweid.  Combining their experience in performing arts management, acting, directing and producing, Carole and Nancy set out to develop and present innovative arts programming for today’s changing audiences, and are continually exploring new ideas.

JIB Productions produces events for corporate conferences and parties, senior centers and schools, utilizing our library of more than 70 one-act plays. We've learned that there is a theme and a play out there for everyone!
